Kenley is a recognized practitioner in art and cultural property law within the Firm’s Private Client Services Department, where she advises high-net-worth collectors, fiduciaries, art market professionals, museums, and artists on complex transactions involving fine art, collectibles, and cultural property, including regulatory and tax matters and legacy planning. Her practice integrates art law with trusts and estates, tax, and corporate counsel to deliver business-oriented solutions for valuable and multifaceted holdings.

Her work spans the full lifecycle of art collections, from acquisitions, commissions, and loans to consignments, sales, gifts, and advisory arrangements. She structures charitable and non-charitable transfers of art, including museum loans, promised gifts, and private foundation planning, and provides guidance on the governance and long-term stewardship of major collections.

Drawing on her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, Kenley brings particular depth to the tax dimensions of art ownership and transfer. She advises on estate and gift tax strategies for art holdings, Section 170 charitable deduction planning, valuation-related issues, and structuring to minimize sales and use tax exposure across multiple jurisdictions. Her regulatory advisory work also encompasses AML compliance and related collection-management obligations.

Kenley negotiates and structures the agreements that govern these transactions, including contracts for art purchases, exhibition loans, consignments and sales through galleries and auction houses, leases, and donation agreements, tailoring each to the regulatory, tax, and reputational considerations unique to art, collectibles, and cultural property. She also represents artists and their estates on matters involving gallery representation, intellectual property, licensing, and legacy planning. Her experience spans a wide range of fine art and collectible property, from antiquities and Old Masters to contemporary art and distinctive collectibles such as musical instruments, rare coins, fossils, and memorabilia.

Kenley is active in the art law community, including through her service on the Art Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association and the Professional Advisory Council of the Greenwich Historical Society. Through these relationships and her regular collaboration with family offices, art advisors, and estate planning lawyers, she brings a measured, interdisciplinary perspective that addresses both the financial and deeply personal dimensions of major collections.
