Special Counsel

Robert Raskopf is Special Counsel in Wiggin and Dana’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and a widely respected trial and appellate lawyer in intellectual property, media, sports, entertainment, and privacy matters.

Bob focuses his practice on trademarks, trade dress, trade secrets, false advertising, copyright, defamation, trade libel, First Amendment, privacy and publicity rights, and access to courts and governmental proceedings. He has litigated complex disputes through trial and appeal in state and federal courts nationwide, both jury and non‑jury, and has served as counsel of record in more than 100 reported decisions. His experience also includes trials involving product liability, professional malpractice, personal injury, and breach‑of‑contract matters.

Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Bob was a partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP from 2006 to 2020, where he served in multiple leadership roles within the litigation department, including in the firm’s sports litigation, trademark and copyright, and media and entertainment practices. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at White & Case LLP and at Townley & Updike, where he developed a nationally recognized litigation practice spanning intellectual property, media, and complex commercial disputes.

Bob has long been regarded as a leading trial lawyer in copyright, defamation, trademark, and trade secret matters. He has been consistently recognized as a leading lawyer both nationally and in New York by Chambers USA and has received recognition throughout his career from organizations including Legal 500, Super Lawyers, Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal), The Lawyer International, Corporate LiveWire, and others.

Bob earned his J.D. from Boston College Law School and his B.S. from Boston College. He has served on the Boston College Law School Alumni Board, the Board of Directors of the United States Anti‑Doping Agency, and the Lawyers Committee of The New York Public Library. He is a founding member of the Federal Bar Council Intellectual Property Committee and is a frequent writer and lecturer on intellectual property, media, and First Amendment issues.
