Navigating Workplace Challenges 2026: Compliance, Risk, and Emerging Employment Law Trends
On April 29, the Wiggin and Dana Labor, Employment, and Benefits Department is partnering with the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce in a program titled Navigating Workplace Challenges 2026: Compliance, Risk, and Emerging Employment Law Trends.
Program Highlights:
- NLRB Q1 Developments: What Employers Need to Know. A timely review of key opinions issued by new NLRB leadership, with clear takeaways for employer policies, investigations, discipline, and recognizing protected concerted activity.
- Wage & Hour Update. An overview of a recent Connecticut Supreme Court decision setting new parameters for calculating compensable time, along with updates on overtime, off‑the‑clock work, and wage‑and‑hour litigation trends.
- DEI in 2026: What’s Still Permissible? A forward‑looking discussion of reverse‑discrimination trends, religious‑accommodation issues, and recent EEOC developments, with guidance on sustaining values‑driven DEI initiatives while managing legal risk.
- Political Speech, Social Media, and Whistleblower Protections in Connecticut. A practical exploration of how Connecticut law treats employee political speech online and in the workplace alongside whistleblower protections and NLRA considerations. This session will examine where protected activity ends, and misconduct begins, with real‑world examples and best‑practice guidance for employers.
- Interactive Q&A. Bring Your Questions. An “office hours”‑style discussion where attendees can engage directly with Wiggin and Dana attorneys. Participants are encouraged to submit questions in advance or raise issues facing their organizations.
