Robert Langer Receives ABA Antitrust Law Section’s Outstanding Performance Award

November 10, 2021

Senior Counsel Robert M. Langer has received the ABA Antitrust Law Section’s Outstanding Performance Award for the work he has done over the past 17 plus years administering the Janet D. Steiger Fellowship Project. The award was announced at the 2021 Antitrust Fall Forum on November 9, in Washington, DC.

ABA praised Bob’s working stating, “Bob’s long tenure as part of the project is extraordinary; over time it has brought in hundreds of new lawyers to the Section and to the field of consumer protection and antitrust law; and it has raised the profile of the Section within the broader ABA and the legal community.”

The Janet D. Steiger Fellowship Projectย facilitates the placement of rising 2Ls and rising 3Ls in the consumer protection departments of state and territorial Offices of Attorneys General and other consumer protection agencies throughout the United States. Since the Projectโ€™s inception, 460 law students have served as Steiger Fellows, and in so doing, have uniformly helped each host site to fulfill its consumer protection mission. Through this Project, the Section seeks to honor the memory and the legacy of one of Americaโ€™s great public servants, the late Janet D. Steiger, who served with such distinction as Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission from 1989 to 1995.ย Bob was privileged to be able to work closely with Chairman Steiger, before he joined Wiggin and Dana, during his tenure as the Chair of the National Association of Attorneys General Multistate Antitrust Task Force from 1990-92.
