Wiggin and Dana LLP is pleased to announce that Kenneth Meagher has joined the firm’s Insurance Practice Group as Special Counsel in Stamford, Connecticut. Meagher brings over 40 years of experience that includes serving as General Counsel at global insurance and reinsurance organizations.

“Ken has had a long and storied career as an insurance attorney for some of the industry’s most dynamic corporations—and no one knows the industry better than him,” said Managing Partner Tim Diemand. “Importantly, Ken also adds new transactional and regulatory capacity to our insurance team, which historically has focused on litigation. We’re excited to deepen our services with an industry veteran like Ken.”

Meagher represents insurers and reinsurers—as well as insurance startups—in an array of legal matters, including regulatory compliance across the US, product development, reinsurance wordings, advertising and marketing compliance, government relations, MGA matters, mergers and acquisitions, captive reinsurance matters, and business formations. He also reviews IT and other vendor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, third-party administrator agreements, corporate leases, and other agreements. He has served as Deputy General Counsel for Arch Insurance Group, and General Counsel for Catlin US and XL Insurance US, among other companies.

“Insurance regulatory and corporate work has traditionally been dominated by a handful of extremely large firms,” added Michael Menapace, Co-Chair of the firm’s Insurance Practice Group. “But not every insurance company needs such a firm for every project. Meagher earned his J.D. from Pace University School of Law, his MBA from Pace University Graduate School of Business, and received his B.A. from Iona University. He is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and an Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM), Reinsurance (ARe), and Regulation and Compliance (ARC).
