For more than three decades, Bill has helped investors, buyers, founders, families, owners, and sellers of businesses create, preserve, and grow value through highly complex and strategic transactions.
The immediate past Chair of Wiggin and Danaโs Corporate Department, Bill guides clients through the legal and business aspects of a variety of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, licensing, outsourcing, private equity, and corporate divorces. He represents clients in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, fintech, technology, media, retail, and a wide variety of service businesses. He is also very experienced in complex commercial transactions, including software development, licensing and distribution, SaaS agreements, digital media, supply chain and logistics matters.
Bill founded the firmโs Emerging Companies and Venture Capital Practice Group and has handled a significant number of venture capital transactions for investors and issuers. On the mergers and acquisitions front, he is industry agnostic and has personally handled billions of dollars in enterprise value of buy and sell side transactions.
Bill has earned numerous accolades over the course of his distinguished career, including the 2016ย Connecticut Law Tribuneย Professional Excellence Award for his years of service to emerging-technology companies.ย Bill is consistently listed in Band 1 for M&A by Chambers USA. The Legal 500 U.S.ย andย IFLR 1000 have also recognized Bill as a leading corporate/M&A lawyer for his handling of complex corporate transactions, including those in the technology sector.
A rock and blues guitar and bass player in New York metropolitan area cover bands over many years, Bill has also been deeply involved in the regional and national business community. He served for many years as a board member of the Association for Corporate Growth.
He received his law degreeย cum laudeย from Western New England University School of Law, where he was an instructor in legal research and writing. He received his undergraduate degreeย cum laudeย from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. Bill also attended the masterโs in law program in taxation at New York University. Before law school, Bill was an economist with the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics in New York City.
